Prince Christian Sound (officially Prins Christian Sund) is a 100 km (62 ml) long sea waterway and fjord system located in southern Greenland. The fjord separates mainland Greenland from Christian IV Island and other isles part of the country's Cape Farewell Archipelago. The fjord is named in honor of prince Christian VIII (1786-1848), who was king of Denmark between 1839-1848.
Prins Christian Sund features beautiful scenery. During summer, this location is visited several times a year by cruise ships. Itineraries include cruising through the sound. Among the largest cruise liners ever that have passed through Prince Christian Sound is the Holland America ship MS Eurodam.
Located nearby (and often part of the cruise itinerary) is the fishing port Aappilattoq.
