Provincetown MA (aka PTown) is a New England cruise port and resort town in Massachusetts USA. The town is located at the tip of Cape Cod and has permanent population around 3000, During summer, due to tourists inflow, its population grow to over 60,000.

Provincetown MA is approx 100 km (62 mi) by road to Sagamore Bridge (over Cape Cod Canal) connecting Cape Cod to mainland USA. Boston is approx 70 km (45 mi) by sea, and 185 km (115 mi) by road. The town is best known for its large beaches (coastline length approx 34 km / 21 mi), well-protected harbour, marina (yachts-serving facility with 100 slips and 85 moorings), well-developed tourism industry (with numerous bars, restaurants, annual festivals, week-long party events) and LGBTQ-friendly vacation travel destination (gaytown).

About 73% of town's land area is owned by Parks Canada (government agency). Popular "nature destinations" located nearby are Province Lands (dunes and small ponds) and Cape Cod Bay. In Provincetown ends the scenic "Bike Route 1" (originating in Boston).

Seasonally, via ferries Provincetown is connected to Boston (two ships) and to Plymouth (one ship). All ferries dock at MacMillan Pier (downtown). At full capacity, the pier can handle 11 ferry crossings daily (~5000 passengers). MacMillan Pier also serves whale-watch tour boats (3 trips per day, max capacity 3600 passengers), town's fishing fleet, mega-yachts and visiting cargo and cruise ships.

Flights to Provincetown are served by Municipal Airport (domestic, with regularly scheduled Cape Air service to Boston MA and White Plains NY). Boston's Logan International Airport is the closest serving national and international flights.

Provincetown MA is the gateway to Cape Cod National Seashore - a scenic area of ~40 mi / 65 km of sandy beaches, marshes and ponds. Bus tours also may visit the villages Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans, as well as Chatham Town. From Chatham MA (Cape Cod's east coast) is visited the Monomoy NWR/National Wildlife Refuge (part of Eastern Massachusetts NWR) for watching endangered species like horseshoe crabs, tiger beetles, gray seals, as well as various migratory birds.

Ferries and cruise ships to Provincetown dock at MacMillan Pier (located near the Town Hall in downtown). The facility has capacity to handle 11 ferry crossings daily (around 5000 passengers). Here also berth tour boats, commercial fishing vessels, mega-yachts, cargo ships. Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority provides bus service between the pier and Harwich MA, plus shuttles to Truro.

Visiting cruise vessels are mainly smaller-sized ships and top-luxury superyachts from the fleets of companies like Windstar, Seabourn, Azamara, Crystal, American Cruise Lines.
