Slano is a small harbour village on the so-called "Dubrovnik Riviera" (coastal area in southern Croatia), located approx 27 km (17 mi) northwest of Dubrovnik. The local economy is based on farming, olive- and fruit-growing, viniculture, tobacco and herbs, fishing, tourism.

The small village (population around 600) is on Croatia's main coastal road (M2) connecting to Adriatic Highway (via E65) and linking Croatia with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro. Small-sized cruise ships, leisure boats, and yachts anchor in a protected bay area (Banja Cove). Anchoring for larger vessels is provided southwest of Cape Gornji (off the bay's entrance).

Among the local tourist attractions are the Franciscan monastery (16th century) and St Blaise church (early-15th century), the 13th-century churches Annunciation and St Peter, a fine-sand beach, the Admiral Grand Hotel.

As a cruise port, Slano was first included in cruise tour itineraries offered by the European river cruise company Emerald Waterways.

The 2019-launched 7-day itinerary between Dubrovnik and Trogir visits Slano (overnight), Korcula Island (overnight), Brac Island (Sumartin), Split, Hvar Island (overnight), Krka National Park, and Sibenik. Overnight stays are also offered in both homeports (Dubrovnik and Trogir).

The itinerary was inaugurated with the newbuild luxury yacht Adriatic Princess II.
