Stintino is a cruise port and a small resort town on Sardinia Island's northwestern coast (Stintino Peninsula's northernmost point) and part of Italy's Sassari Province, with permanent population around 2,000. Stintino is approx 200 km (120 mi) north of Cagliari (Sardinia's capital city) and approx 35 km (22 mi) northwest of Sassari (the island's 2nd-largest city).
Stintino is the nearest port to Asinara Island. Until 1988, Stintino was part of Sassari. The town's current day economy is largely based on seaside resort tourism. The most popular beaches are named "Spiaggia della Pelosa" and "Spiaggia delle Saline". The boat access to Stintino is via three marina ports (boat docks/moorings) - Porto Mannu (305 slots), Marina di Stintino (160 slots) and Porto Minore (110 slots).
