Uglich is a Volga River cruise port in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia. This historic town has population around 35,000 and covers a total area of 27 km2 (10 ml2). It is located approx 100 km (60 ml) to the south of Voronezh, and approx 600 km (370 ml) to the south of Russia's capital city Moscow.

Opposite the Resurrection Monastery is the Church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist (1689-1690) built by a local merchant to commemorate the site where his son had drowned.
