On April 15, 2012, while en-route from Oslo Norway and Fredrikshavn Denmark, the cruise-ferry suffered an explosion in the engine room, which sparked a fire. The ship was carrying a total of 1392 passengers plus 180 crew.

The fire created a billowing smoke. It was quickly contained by the engine room's fire sprinkler system. For a brief period, the ferry was drifting, then continued towards Oslo, arriving ~30 min late.
