Dominican Republic tourism officials are currently talking over another new cruise port in the country, according to a statement from Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism.

This week, officials introduced the idea of establishing the Boca Chica city as what would be the 5th cruise port of the Dominican Republic.

Boca Chica would join existing cruise ports, such as San Souci, Santo Domingo, La Romana and Puerto Plata-Amber Cove, country's newest port.

The Ministry said in a statement that the addition would further develop the country’s cruise industry and increase Boca Chica's tourism.

Boca Chica is set to the east of Santo Domingo, a short distance from the city’s Las Americas Airport.
