In the morning on December 4, 2019, all passengers on the Pandaw riverboat Kindat Pandaw were evacuated after the ship collided with a pontoon bridge on Ganges River (India) while navigating on the river's upper section en route from Kolkata to Varanasi.

Tugboats were called at the scene for assistance. The accident resulted in minor hull damages and no injuries. According to local media sources, the bridge was ripped off its hinges.

Note: Actually, this type of marine accident is called “allision” (striking a fixed object) as opposed to “collision” (striking another vessel).
