25 March 2020Other Incidents

(Coronavirus issues) On March 25, 2020, Dream Cruises cancelled the company's entire Australia-New Zealand program for 2020-2021. All Explorer Dream cruises in the region with planned departures between October 8, 2020, and February 21, 2021, were cancelled.

All affected bookings received penalty-free cancellations with a full refund (100%) transferred as FCC (future cruise credit) plus of AUD 250 per cabin in OBC (onboard credit) with rebooking. The refund includes fares paid, port fees, gratuities, pre-purchased (if any) shore excursions. For rebooking were opened all Dream Cruises itineraries through December 31, 2021. Cancellations without rebooking received a full monetary refund (fare paid, port fees, gratuities, shore excursions).

Explorer Dream resumed voyages on July 26, with a 3-night roundtrip Port Keelung (Taipei Taiwan) itinerary visiting Taiwan's Peng Hu Island, Matzu Island and Kinmen island.

June 2011Cruise Illness / Virus Outbreaks

(SuperStar Virgo) On June 19, 2011, about 100 passengers suffered food poisoning (Norovirus / gastrointestinal illness outbreak) during a roundtrip cruise from Singapore to Vietnam. The cause for the incident was infected food picked up from a roadside stall.

All sick experienced Noro virus symptoms (predominantly vomiting and diarrhea, also fever and stomach cramps) and were quarantined to their cabins for the rest of the voyage.

13 April 2009Crew / Passenger Deaths

(SuperStar Virgo / overboard) On April 13, 2009, at ~10 am, two cruise passengers (married couple from Singapore) were reported missing and presumed fell overboard. The 49-year-old male passenger was lost at sea (the body was never found). The woman was rescued.

They accidentally fell overboard (from some 20 m / 65 ft into the water) while the cruise vessel was approx 28 km / 17 ml south of Pulau Kendi Island.
