Scenic Cruises announed it is delaying the launch of line's newest cruise ship, Scenic Eclipse.
The newbuild, which is the first of a couple of new “discovery yachts” that are planned for the brand, will launch in late January 2019. A spokesperson for Scenic Cruises said the launch of sibling ship, Scenic Eclipse II (scheduled to debut in 2020), would not be affected.
According to Glen Moroney, Scenic Founder and Chairman, construction issues within the shipyard were the cause for the delay. The original launch date was late August 2018.
Scenic provides full refund for the cost of any booked Scenic Eclipse cruises and consideration of reasonable associated costs.
The company works with guests to reschedule their trips to suitable time for travel within the next 2 years. Additionally, clients who rebook a voyage aboard Scenic Eclipse receive a future credit to the value of 25% of the cost of the rebooked cruise.
