On October 30 (Friday), a jury in Seattle awarded US$21,000,000 to a cruise passenger who has been hit in the head by an automatic glass door on ms Amsterdam in 2011.

KIRO Channel 7 reported that the passenger had suffered a traumatic brain injury including debilitating headaches, fatigue and problems with his balance.

His lawyers at Friedman Rubin Law Firm showed that sliding doors had injured 30 others across the fleet of Holland America in the 3-year period before the accident.

HAL (Holland America Line) said in a statement that it was "committed to the safety and security" of guests, and that it would appeal the verdict.
