On January 17, 2010, the newly launched ship experienced engine issues resulting in cruise cancellations. All roundtrips from homeport Ushuaia Argentina to Antarctica were cancelled. GAP Expeditions passengers were rebooked on other ships. The vessel remained laid up in port Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) until November.
