All are outside staterooms with direct access (via sliding glass doors) to Lower Promenade Deck - an outdoor (open deck) walking area that encircles the entire ship.

  • Lanai cabin passengers receive on their first day a special access card for the sliding door. The card is different from the key card for the interior corridor (entry) door. The card will be placed in an envelope on the bed.
  • To unlock the sliding door from the inside, you'll have to push the green button located next to the door. The door unlocks, and after exiting the room, it shuts and locks again automatically.
  • To unlock the door from the open deck, you'll have to wave the access card over a panel (located outside the room).
  • Each Lanai cabin has two “dedicated lounge chairs” (teak, with cushions) located on the  open deck. Each chair has a signage stating that the seating is reserved for Lanai passengers only.
  • Each stateroom has 2 closets (fold-down shelves, full-length mirror), 3rd closet (2 bars for hanging clothes), 4th closet (chest, 3 drawers, shelves, personal safe), private bathroom (single sink, WC, 2 glass shelves with Elemis bath products, 1 below-sink shelf, bathtub/shower). Handicap cabins are without the bathtub and with different furniture placement.
  • Lower Promenade Deck is the ship's muster deck, which makes the staterooms' location a convenience during the muster drill.

CFC Renaissance cabins review

MS Maasdam/CFC Renaissance staterooms are categorized into 149 Suites (no Standard Balcony cabins), 352 Oceanviews (including 29 Lanai/Promenade), and 128 Inside cabins, across a total of 32 categories. Of all passenger accommodations, 24% feature private balconies. There are 32 Wellness/Spa cabins (16 Balcony Suites, 12 Oceanviews, 4 Inside). The ship also offers 18 wheelchair-accessible cabins, 102 interconnecting cabins, and 100 single cabins (available for single occupancy without a supplement).

Below is a review of the passenger staterooms, covering amenities, furnishings, and included (complimentary) services.

All cabins feature standard amenities including a sleeping area (two twin beds convertible to a queen), en-suite bathroom (bathtub, shower, massage showerhead, luxury bath products, hairdryer), and a lounge/sitting area (sofa bed, vanity table with magnifying mirror, HDTV, DVD player/DVD library). Additional amenities include personal stationery, electronic safe, lifejackets (in the closet), direct-dial telephone, and individual air-conditioning.

Premium amenities across all cabin types include luxury bedding and mattresses, cotton robes, and towels. Complimentary services available upon request include shoe-shining and in-cabin delivery of fresh fruit and ice.

All Suites (including Vista/Balcony cabins) have floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening onto a private veranda furnished with a small table, one or two sunloungers, and one chair. Pinnacle and Neptune Suites feature four chairs on their balconies.

Full cabin layouts and furniture details are shown in the cabin floor plans table above.

Pinnacle and Neptune Suites additionally offer twin beds convertible to a king, bathrooms with whirlpool bathtubs, dressing rooms, and a seating area with a double sofa bed. Guests in these suites enjoy enhanced perks including concierge service, priority services (check-in, debarkation, tender boarding, dining reservations), in-room dining (Afternoon Tea, canapés), umbrella, binoculars, welcome gifts (flowers, fruit, champagne, bottled water), exclusive Suite Lounge access, and complimentary laundry (dry cleaning and pressing).

The largest accommodation onboard is the Penthouse Suite (forward-starboard on Deck 10), featuring an oversized whirlpool bathtub, a guest bathroom, dressing room, separate living room (with double sofa bed), and dining room (with mini-bar, pantry, and refrigerator).

Most Oceanview cabins have a picture window, except for category G staterooms, which have one porthole window. Categories H and HH Oceanview cabins have obstructed views due to lifeboats.

The new CA category “Lanai” cabins (located on Deck 6) offer sliding doors that open directly onto the walk-around Lower Promenade Deck.

Wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) are available in the following categories: Neptune Suite (SA), Vista Suite/Balcony (B), Oceanview (FF, C, G-porthole), and Interior (K-Large).

Holland America Maasdam guests booking Suites enjoy the following bonus amenities:

  • Neptune Suites – Nespresso coffee machine, BOSE SoundDock (multimedia iPod docking station), complimentary in-cabin breakfast, and luxury bath products by Elemis.
  • Signature and Vista Suites – binoculars for use throughout the cruise.
