In a historic event, the steel cutting ceremony for the 7th and last vessel within the INFINITY series of expedition ships unfolded at CMHI/China Merchants Heavy Industries' Haimen Shipyard.
SunStone Maritime Group, a major shipowner of expedition-type cruise vessels, commemorated this significant milestone in the presence of key stakeholders and industry partners.
The upcoming PC6 ship (Ocean Discoverer) is poised for a long-term charter following its delivery. Maintaining technical uniformity with its Infinity series counterparts, the 7th vessel is poised to complement its siblings in reshaping the landscape of expedition cruising through its state-of-the-art design and unparalleled features.
The INFINITY-class vessels are with up to 95 passenger staterooms (the majority with step-out balconies), and are equipped with a range of facilities, including restaurants, lecture venues, bar lounges, a 180-degree indoor observation deck, outdoor decks/viewing areas, wellness facilities (gym, sauna, spa) and a specially designed watersports launch platform catering to sea kayakers and scuba divers.
To further enhance the expedition experience, the vessel will feature a dedicated sea-level Zodiac loading platform and a mudroom, ensuring seamless operations for off-board activities.
