TUI River Cruises has officially launched its first vessel on the Nile River, TUI Al Horeya. The occasion was marked with a traditional naming/blessing ceremony and a series of cultural festivities in Luxor (Egypt), where the ship commenced its inaugural voyage on the iconic river.
The ceremony included a traditional “Prayer to Hapi,” honoring the ancient Egyptian god of the Nile, to bestow safe and prosperous journeys upon the vessel. Guests participated in the symbolic gesture of setting 100 biodegradable candles, encased in coconut shells, afloat on the river, each accompanied by a personal wish. In addition, attendees received papyrus scrolls inscribed with “TUI Al Horeya” in Arabic, handcrafted by local artisans.
As TUI Al Horeya set sail toward Luxor Temple, onboard celebrations included a live sand art performance depicting the story of the Nile, traditional Egyptian cultural acts such as the Whirling Dervishes, a gala dinner, and entertainment provided by TUI's team.
This milestone marks TUI River Cruises' expansion into the historic and culturally rich Nile River region, offering tourists an immersive experience that blends ancient heritage with modern cruising comforts.
