A 54-year-old Taiwanese man has been arrested by Philippine authorities after arriving aboard the Star Cruises' ship MV Star Navigator on November 22nd, during its voyage from Kaohsiung to northern Philippines.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) identified him as Tsai Chin Hao, a former U.S. citizen who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice and an active arrest warrant issued by U.S. authorities.
BI officers aboard the vessel verified the alert with their Interpol unit while the ship was inbound, and once confirmed, they detained Tsai and handed him over to the Bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit at the Port of Currimao in Ilocos Norte.
Immigration authorities have initiated deportation proceedings in line with Philippine regulations and Interpol protocols.
Officials indicate that Tsai may be returned to Taiwan, unless the United States formally requests custody.
