A passenger ferry and a cargo ship were involved in a collision on the morning of July 21st in Souda Bay, off the southern Greek island of Crete. The incident occurred at ~10:00 a.m. local time near the port of Chania as the cargo vessel was entering the harbour.
According to reports, the cargo ship sustained damage to the port side of its bow, while the ferry suffered less extensive damage, also confined to its bow. The impact occurred during manoeuvring operations within the port area.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, and the authorities confirmed that no marine pollution had resulted from the incident. Both vessels remained alongside for inspection as port officials launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.
