A fire aboard the excursion vessel Emperor Attila prompted the evacuation of 115 passengers and crew members while the ship was operating on a day cruise in the waters off Fethiye, in Türkiye’s Muğla Province. The incident occurred near Katrancı Bay, where flames spread rapidly across the vessel after the outbreak of a fire whose cause has not yet been determined.
Passengers and crew donned lifejackets and entered the water as the situation developed. Following the alarm, units from the Turkish Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Coastal Safety and the Maritime Police were dispatched to the scene to conduct rescue operations. All 115 people on board, including children, were safely evacuated and transferred to shore facilities in the Göcek and Karagözler areas.
Two individuals affected by smoke inhalation were transported to hospital for treatment, while medical teams carried out precautionary examinations of several children following the evacuation. No fatalities were reported. According to local media accounts, the fire may have originated in the galley before spreading throughout the vessel, although the exact circumstances remain under investigation.
The incident adds to a series of maritime fire events recorded in the Fethiye region during the current summer season, a period that has also seen heightened emergency activity linked to wildfires and other incidents in the area. Authorities are continuing to examine the cause of the blaze aboard Emperor Attila.
