Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) has officially opened its new Singapore Cruise Centre (HarbourFront) terminal, completing a 24-month development and testing programme aimed at supporting the next phase of regional ferry and cruise operations.
Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Transport Murali Pillai said the region’s ferry and cruise networks play an important role in connecting Singapore with neighbouring markets for both business and leisure travel. He added that changing travel patterns would increase the importance of technology and innovation in making passenger journeys more efficient.
The terminal began full operations on July 15th, 2026 and has since handled more than 720,000 ferry and cruise passengers.
The new facility combines expanded automation, technology and revised passenger-flow planning to improve check-in, baggage processing and boarding while providing additional capacity for future growth in regional ferry and cruise traffic.
A central element is a new interoperable ferry and cruise passenger departure control system developed by SCC in partnership with Sqiva, a travel technology company specialising in passenger transport software. The system is built around SCC’s Cruise and Ferry Operating System (CFOS), bringing ferry and cruise operations onto a common platform.
CFOS is integrated with SITA’s FAST self-service system, which supports functions including check-in, baggage drop and boarding. The integration allows passenger information to move between the different stages of the departure process, from check-in through to boarding.
The system is also connected to the terminal’s Baggage Handling System (BHS), which provides real-time baggage tracking and image capture during handling. This gives operations teams greater visibility of baggage movements and allows them to intervene more quickly when required.
The terminal has also been redesigned to simplify passenger movement through the facility. Ferry operators are now located together on a single level in the main terminal concourse, replacing the two-floor arrangement at the previous facility.
Eligible ferry passengers who have purchased tickets online can use self-service facilities to validate passports, check in, and print boarding passes and baggage tags in less than a minute. Checked baggage can then be deposited through self-service bag-drop facilities within a similar timeframe.
