Cruise Season Kicks Off in Vancouver

2018 cruise season kicked off at Port Vancouver with the arrival of Star Princess at Canada Place terminal. Around 895,000 cruise passengers on a total of 241 ship calls are due in Vancouver in 2018, a 7% increase in passenger volume over last year.

Over the past 5 years, cruise passenger volumes in Vancouver have been strong with 2018 forecasting the highest ones since 2010. In 2018, Port of Vancouver welcomes Norwegian Bliss, the largest cruise ship to date to come to the port.

32 different ships from 14 cruise lines will visit Canada Place cruise terminal at Port of Vancouver ranging from smaller expedition ships designed to carry small groups of travelers, to some of the biggest ships in Alaska cruise market.

For each ship that visits Canada Place, Vancouver cruise industry stimulates nearly USD 3 million in economic activity.

Port of Vancouver will welcome the 25 millionth cruise ship passenger this year onboard a Holland America liner. A celebration will be held at Canada Place in May.
