VIDEO: Costa Venezia Officially Named in Trieste

Today, March 1, in Trieste, Italy, there was the naming ceremony of the first Costa Cruises ship designed specifically for the Chinese cruise market, Costa Venezia, built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone.

During the breaking of the ceremonial bottle, the godmother was the protagonist: Gan Beiye and her family, fans to Costa Cruise since the family started their first journey with the line back in 2011. 

The naming ceremony for Costa Venezia also included a spectacular air show by “Frecce Tricolori” acrobatic team as well as a firework display involving the whole city.

The maiden voyage will depart from Trieste on March 3, bound for Greece and Croatia. 

On March 8, the ship is scheduled to be back in Trieste for the start of her 53-day trip following in the steps of Marco Polo to the Mediterranean, Middle East, South East Asia, and East Asia, ending in Tokyo.

From May 18 Costa Venezia will be exclusively dedicated to Chinese guests, offering voyages in Asia departing from Shanghai.
