The Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Dover UK Friday afternoon, July 5, for the official naming ceremony of Saga Cruises' new USD 350 million liner.

The 999-passenger Spirit of Discovery was moored at Dover Western Docks. It was the first ship to be christened in Dover in over a decade.

Camilla Parker-Bowles, the godmother to the newbuild, led the official naming ceremony, joined by 500 guests of which Saga management, employees, and crew.

The quayside was transformed into a traditional garden party, complete with grass grown in Yorkshire. Organisers decked the area out with bunting and table settings, foliage, florals, trees and parasols in a true garden party spirit.

The 236-m long vessel departs on its maiden voyage on Wednesday, July 10, from Dover around the British Isles.
