A 41-yo Norwegian Breakaway crew member has died after a lifeboat accident which took place yesterday, July 20, while the vessel was in Bermuda.
During the routine drill, a lifeboat fell and injured 4 crew members. They were immediately treated at ship's medical center before being transferred to the local hospital, where one subsequently died from the injuries.
"Norwegian is profoundly saddened by this loss, and we share our deepest sympathies with the crew member's family and loved ones during this difficult time," the line said in a statement.
"The company is providing full support and care to those involved and is working closely with the Government of Bermuda and relevant authorities to investigate the incident."
Norwegian Breakaway departed Bermuda as scheduled.
