The Island Princess, under the Princess Cruises banner, is scheduled to dock at Puerto Plata’s Amber Cove (Dominicana) terminal on July 8th, marking its return after a 15-year hiatus.
This visit, with the ship’s last Dominican call occurring in 2010, is seen as a substantive endorsement of the Dominican Republic’s growing standing within the cruise market.
Jean Luis Rodríguez, Executive Director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), indicated that the ship’s arrival reflects confidence in the nation’s upgraded cruise facilities and elevated operational standards.
He further observed that an increasing number of lines are now incorporating Dominican calls into their itineraries, driving a rise in the flow of international cruise visitors.
This renewed presence of the Island Princess at Amber Cove symbolizes an important milestone in the Dominican Republic’s ongoing development as a key Caribbean cruise destination.
