Stena Line has confirmed it will discontinue its Cherbourg–Rosslare ferry service after the summer 2025 season, with the final crossing scheduled for the end of September.
The company stated that all existing bookings through that date will be honored, and alternative arrangements will be offered to customers booked beyond September. This follows earlier adjustments, including the termination of its dedicated passenger service in 2024. The decision forms part of a strategic realignment toward strengthening its operations across the Irish Sea, particularly between Liverpool and Belfast.
Although Stena Line is withdrawing, the Cherbourg–Rosslare route will continue to be operated by Brittany Ferries with five weekly sailings, and Irish Ferries maintains service between Cherbourg and Dublin.
Demand for direct France–Ireland links remains strong, with recent growth in both passenger and freight traffic, influenced in part by post-Brexit shifts in transport patterns.
