ALMACO Group has completed the delivery of a refrigeration machinery system for RCI-Royal Caribbean International’s new Legend of the Seas, the latest addition to the cruise line’s Icon Class. The project was carried out at the MEYER TURKU shipyard in Finland and was completed in June 2026.

ALMACO’s contract covered the vessel’s complete refrigeration provision plant, including engineering, equipment supply, installation support and commissioning. The system forms part of the ship’s hotel operations and was integrated into the vessel during its construction at MEYER TURKU.

The project builds on ALMACO’s previous experience supplying refrigeration systems for ships of the same class. Its execution required coordination between ALMACO, Royal Caribbean and the shipyard, particularly in managing system interfaces and aligning equipment installation and commissioning with the vessel’s overall construction schedule.

According to ALMACO Project Manager Hugues del Torchio, the project was completed through structured engineering and close coordination among the parties involved. He noted that a solution-oriented approach during the final stages helped the commissioning and delivery proceed according to schedule.

The completed system adds another element to the technical infrastructure of Legend of the Seas, while the project continues ALMACO’s cooperation with both Royal Caribbean and MEYER TURKU on cruise-ship construction programmes.
