The sunny island, together with Halifax and Cologne, are the top 3 destinations in a survey by the online travel company CruiseCompete.
The statistics, compiled monthly, are based on the number of requests made for a variety of destinations. Cozumel is the leader; Cologne is top port among river travellers; Halifax scores the highest rank for luxury cruising.
Cozumel is popular for its diving, snorkeling and fishing, but it also boasts variety. Most large cruise lines visit the port as most of the sailings are from Florida, though some ships depart from ports like Galveston and Mobile.
