Kenya's tourism marketers today welcomed 576 passengers who arrived at Port Mombasa aboard Oceania Nautica, marking the first cruise arrival to the country in 2018.

Betty Radier, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) CEO, said in a statement that the vessel arrived in the resort city from Zanzibar and is due to make a one day stop before sailing onward to Mahe Island.

Kenyan authorities vowed to develop and promote cruises instead of relying solely on safari and beach for marketing.

Kenya has diverse tourism attractions and is currently a world-renowned tourist brand.

During their 1-day visit, the passengers will see Amboseli National Park and tour various parts of Mombasa, such as the iconic Fort Jesus.

The arrival of Nautica comes barely a fortnight after Silver Spirit made its maiden call in Mombasa.
