The first steel was cut for the newest ship of Celebrity Cruises, Celebrity Apex, at Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard (former STX France) in Saint-Nazaire.
When completed, Celebrity Apex is due to take her place as the height of contemporary luxury, so the name of the ship could not be more apt. The 2nd in Celebrity Cruises' revolutionary Edge series, Apex comes in the wake of cruise industry's most anticipated newbuild, Celebrity Edge, scheduled to debut in November.
Celebrity Apex (previously expected to be named Celebrity Beyond) is due to debut in spring 2020, with the 3rd and 4th Edge series ships arriving Fall 2021 and Fall 2022, respectively.
