09 July 2026Crew / Passenger Crimes

(sexual) On July 9, 2026, after the ship returned to Seattle, a male crew member was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Employed as a hairstylist, the 26-year-old Pranit Narayan Pawar (Indian national) faced two counts of abusive sexual contact after investigators alleged he assaulted multiple passengers while offering unauthorized massages.

According to the criminal complaint, the man began offering massages to female guests who had booked beauty salon appointments. In one case, he allegedly offered a complimentary massage in exchange for additional salon bookings. Prosecutors allege that he escorted at least two women to a room adjacent to the salon, where the assaults took place under the pretext of providing treatment.

Virgin Voyages confirmed that the individual, who was employed by a third-party concessionaire responsible for onboard spa and salon services, was immediately removed from duty after the allegations were reported. The company also notified the FBI and cooperated fully with the investigation.

During interviews, the man acknowledged offering massages to four or five women over a period of approximately two weeks. He admitted engaging in inappropriate physical contact with several guests, including two women believed to be the victims identified in the charges.

The alleged offences occurred while Brilliant Lady was operating in USA waters, placing the case under federal jurisdiction.

The incidents occurred during the 7-day "Alaska Inside Passage and Glacial Fjords Cruise" (itinerary July 2-9, roundtrip from Seattle, WA USA) visiting Inside Passage, Ketchikan, Sitka, Endicott Arm Fjord, and Prince Rupert (BC Canada).
