(Van Gogh) On September 27, 2004, after just 10 min into its inaugural cruise (as Van Gogh), the liner collided with the Greek-flagged oil tanker Spetses (1996-built, IMO 9107710). The collision was due to dense fog. The cruise ship was carrying 492 passengers and was en-route from Gibraltar to Tangiers (Morocco).

The cruise vessel ran into tanker's starboard side, sustaining bow damage. The bulbous bow was also damaged, so it had to return back to Gibraltar for repairs. No injuries or sea pollution were reported.
