On March 3, 2010, Rosella was one of two cruise ships caught in sea ice in Stockholm's archipelago. The ferry was unable to reach Kapellskar and had to turn back to Mariehamn Aland, arriving at 10 pm. The other ship was MS Birger Jarl (1953-built cruise ship) en-route to Stockholm. It left stuck for nearly a day before turning around and also returning to Mariehamn.
