As a cruise ferry, Viking Rosella/Anemos has 1,184 berths. All staterooms are air-conditioned and equipped with en-suite bathrooms (WC, shower, washbasin), TV (with satellite reception), radio, phone, and a mirrored writing table with stool. Seaside Large cabins feature a double bed and a separate living room. The ferry company provides bed linens, towels, and toiletries. Some staterooms are wheelchair-accessible (adapted for disabled passengers and those with reduced mobility). Allergy Cabins are furnished with non-allergenic materials.

Cabins are private—if two passengers book a four-bed cabin, the remaining beds cannot be shared with other travelers.

Staff and crew cabins are located on decks 6, 7, and 8. Passenger cabins are graded as follows:

  • (Deck 4) LX2 (Seaside Large), A2 (Seaside Standard), B2 (Inside Standard), H2R (Inside Handicap Allergy)
  • Family cabins feature six beds (2 plus 4).
  • Standard cabin door width is 64 cm; suite and accessible cabin doors are 89 cm wide.
  • On overnight crossings, Suite cabins (excluding Mini-Suites) include breakfast in the ferry ticket price. Breakfast (for both adults and children) can be served via room service or at onboard restaurants. For in-cabin dining, a room service form must be submitted to Reception the evening prior. For restaurant dining, Suite guests must show their cabin key at the venue.

Seaside (oceanview) cabins have large windows. All cabins are non-smoking, and in-cabin alcohol consumption is prohibited. Cabins are cleaned and linens changed before port arrival. Staterooms remain accessible throughout the crossing, including during cleaning.

Cot beds (for toddlers up to 1 year old and under 10 kg) and bed rails for children are available free of charge upon request.

All passengers must vacate their staterooms 30 minutes prior to homeport arrival.

Anemos ferry Wiki

The vessel Rosella (Wartsila Perno Shipyard, hull number 111181) was launched/floated out from drydock on August 14, 1979, delivered to SF Line (now VIKING LINE) on April 25, 1980, and entered service on May 23 on the route Naantali-Kapellskar via Mariehamn Aland.

The cruiseferry's hull is ice-strengthened (classed "1A Super"), allowing operations in icy waters without the need for icebreaker assistance. The powerplant consists of four Wartsila marine diesel engines (model Pielstick 12PC2-2V) with a total output of 17.7 MW. Propulsion is provided by two shaft lines with fixed-pitch propellers.

Between 1981-1988 and 1994-1997, the cruise ship operated on the Finland-Sweden route Turku-Mariehamn-Stockholm. During the winters from 1997 to 2003, Viking Rosella alternatively operated Stockholm-Aland cruises (to Mariehamn). From 2003 to 2008, she served the Finland-Estonia route Helsinki-Tallinn. Her final Viking Line service route (Sweden-Aland-Finland / Kapellskar-Mariehamn, crossing time 2.5 hours) was operated from 2008 to 2022.

On December 8, 2022, VIKING LINE confirmed the sale of the 42-year-old MS Rosella to Aegean Sealines Maritime Co (Greece). The sale price (EUR 11.25 million) reportedly generated an accounting profit of approximately EUR 8.6 million during Q1 2023. Rosella's Viking service ended on January 8, 2023, when the ship departed Mariehamn for the final time. Her new name (Anemos) and port of registry (Piraeus) were painted on the hull on January 13, and the vessel’s flag was changed on January 17.

Viking Rosella was Finland-flagged (MMSI 230180000, registered in Port Helsinki). Anemos is currently Greece-flagged (MMSI 240483600) and registered in Piraeus. MS Anemos arrived in Greece (Port Perama, east of Piraeus/Athens) on February 7.

The new shipowner, Aegean Speed Lines, is a Greek passenger shipping company founded in 2005 as a subsidiary of the Eugenides Group. It was initially established as a joint venture between Sea Containers Ltd (founded in 1965 by James Blair Sherwood, 1933–2020) and the Eugenides Group (owned by Leonidas Dimitriades-Eugenides). In 2006, Bermuda-based Sea Containers sold its shares to the Eugenides Group and filed for bankruptcy on October 16 after failing to repay a GBP 62 million / US$115 million bond. In 2009, SeaCo Ltd was founded (with major shareholders including former Sea Containers Ltd bondholders and two UK pension funds) to take over the bankrupt company’s maritime container leasing business.
