The vessel was previously operated under the names Olau Britannia (1982-1990 by Olau Line), MS Bayard (1990 by Fred Olsen Cruise Line), MS Christian IV (1991-2008 by Color Line), MS Julia (2008-2012 by Stella Line and Fastnet Line), MS Wind Perfection (2012-2015 as hotel ship by C-Bed), and Moby Zaza (2015-2025).
15 August 2016Fire AccidentOn August 15, 2016, while docked at the passenger terminal in Nice Ferry Port (France), the ship reported an engine room fire accident. The fire was caused by short circuit of the gen set (diesel generator) and resulted in billowing smoke coming from the funnel. The electrical fire was quickly extinguished by the crew. During firefighting, a male crew was slightly injured and medevaced to a hospital. All ferry passengers were successfully evacuated and without injuries. However, the accident caused significant panic among the disembarking passengers as the fire erupted when they were still on the ship. All passengers were evacuated following the ship's emergency evacuation plan, but some jumped overboard. The next scheduled crossing from Nice to Bastia (Corsica Island) was canceled for damage assessment and investigation. |
