There are four Lower Deck staterooms (aft-location) that can be booked with single occupancy (no supplement) rates. Spirit of the Douro cabins review
Most Douro Serenity staterooms are sized 15 m² (160 ft²), which is the standard size for French balcony cabins on 5-star riverboats in Europe. All cabins feature amenities including a polished hardwood entry door, polished wooden furniture with fine fabrics, hotel-style beds (two twins convertible to a double), premium bedding (pillows and fine linens), and an en-suite marble bathroom (glass shower, WC, single-sink vanity, plush towels, and premium toiletries such as soap, shampoo, and conditioner). Additional amenities include individually controlled air conditioning, a wall-mounted flat-screen HDTV (with satellite reception, infotainment system, movies on demand, and Internet access), hairdryer, wardrobe, mirrored dressing table with chair, electronic safe (in the closet), telephone, tea and coffee-making facilities, and power outlets (2-prong, 220V; UK and North American passengers require an adapter or converter).
Lower Deck cabins are designed for single travelers. They are smaller (14 m² / 150 ft²) and feature one fixed (non-opening) window positioned near the ceiling. These are "single cabins" and can be booked without a single supplement. Nicko Cruises charges a 100% supplement for all other staterooms.
Standard-category cabins are French Balcony staterooms sized 15 m² (160 ft²). They feature an electronically controlled sliding window that lowers horizontally and opens to a railing (false balcony), allowing unobstructed views of the passing riverside scenery along the cruise itinerary. Each cabin also includes a table and two chairs for in-room dining.
Superior Suites (Upper Deck) are sized 22 m² (235 ft²) and feature a spacious living area, floor-to-ceiling windows, a step-out balcony, and a separate French balcony with a sitting area (table and two chairs).
Deluxe Suites (aft on Upper Deck) are sized 30 m² (325 ft²) and offer a larger living area, two floor-to-ceiling windows, a step-out balcony, a French balcony with a sitting area (table and two chairs), a walk-in closet, and a bedroom with two floor-to-ceiling windows.
