Celebrity Cruises revealed it is sailing into the future with the launch of a brand new virtual experience named "Wonderverse".
In a cruise industry first, guests will get to “see before they sail,” exploring a digital recreation of aspects of their new ship in Celebrity’s Edge Series, Celebrity Beyond, complete with inspiring spaces, entertaining signature moments like the Martini Bar Flair Show, and the ability to visit popular destinations that Celebrity Cruises sails to - from the Caribbean to Alaska and Europe to Asia.
In addition, vacationers can meet and chat with the company’s key leaders as digital avatars, including President & CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, Capt. Kate McCue - the first and only American female captain of a major cruise liner, and Nate Berkus, Celebrity’s Edge Series Travel Ambassador/designer of the Sunset Bar onboard Celebrity Beyond.
Built in partnership with virtual event platform architects Surreal Events, the Wonderverse is complete with entertainment, mini-games and activities, easter eggs revealing special offers, and more, all hosted on the web.
The experience launches in time for the holidays. Once logged into the Wonderverse, customers will move from space to space, enjoying interactive content as they learn more about the vessel and the destinations they can sail to on Celebrity, including:
- The Magic Carpet, which is considered one of the most unique design innovations ever onboard a cruise ship, and soars cantilevered above the sea for enjoying virtual dinner or cocktails. It also doubles as a meeting space via a dynamic way for users to interact virtually.
- The Grand Plaza, the social epicenter onboard Celebrity Beyond, spanning 3 decks with the line’s signature Martini Bar, will serve as a social-first lounge where guests can connect, enjoy Celebrity’s iconic Martini Bar Flair Show, chat with Celebrity’s President & CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, and listen to music.
- The Resort Deck, featuring the ship’s Main Pool, cantilevered float pools, sunken seating, and a Rooftop Garden, offers interactions with Capt. Kate and Nate Berkus, showcasing the brand’s 2024-2025 cruise season offerings.
- The Sunset Bar, where its designer Nate Berkus shares his personal travel experiences reflected in an internationally-inspired ambiance at the multi-terraced outdoor space.
The trip begins with a user-controlled tender game to the Magic Carpet, where participants have a chance to create their own avatars. They will then be transported to the Resort Deck and greeted personally by Capt. Kate, and can explore the liner from there.
Visitors can experience some of the most breathtaking destinations in the world in the Wonderverse, all before reuniting at the Sunset Bar, where they will have the chance to ask Nate a series of questions about the ship and its destinations. As part of the unusual experience, guests can easily access a portal for immediate bookings.
The next-generation cruise ship Celebrity Beyond goes further, giving passengers endless opportunities to disconnect from every day while connecting with the world's wonders around them.
