2 vessels of Corsica Ferries undergo Decarbonisation Modelling with Wartsila

Two ships in the Corsica Ferries fleet will undergo a Decarbonisation Modelling process with Wartsila, thus creating a digital model to simulate the effect of various decarbonization technologies on environmental performance.

The service combines expert advice and recommendations with data-driven assessments, "to assist operators in choosing the optimal methods to move towards decarbonized operations with cost-effective investments."

The results of the modeling process will be used by the ferry operator in order to evaluate the efficiency gains possible via the implementation of different systems to improve environmental performance on Mega Express 1 and Mega Express 2, both 176-m-long sisterships.

Nicolo Verrina, Energy Transition Naval Architect & Ocean Engineer, Corsica Ferries said it was "a huge benefit to be able to simulate in advance how various products, solutions, and systems will impact efficiency."

"This will help us in our efforts to decarbonize fleet operations and meet our sustainability goals.

“We respect Wärtsilä’s experience and capabilities and are pleased to continue the good relationship between our companies with this modeling program.”
