In a maritime milestone announced by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, PortMiami Florida achieved its busiest cruise year ever in 2023.

Mayor Levine Cava revealed that a remarkable 7,299,294 cruise passengers passed through the port during the 2023 fiscal year, marking a significant 6.97% increase from the previous record of 6,823,816 passengers set in 2019. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it follows the cruise industry's months-long shutdown due to the COVID crisis.

Commending the entire PortMiami team and its partners, Mayor Levine Cava stated:

""Congratulations to the entire PortMiami team and its partners on its busiest cruise year ever.

"PortMiami continues to drive our economy forward, creating opportunities for residents and businesses across our county. The Port is an industry leader, which is future ready and committed to innovative, efficient, and sustainable growth."

As one of Miami-Dade's vital economic engines, PortMiami annually contributes US$43 billion to the local economy and sustains 334,500+ jobs.

Looking ahead to 2024, PortMiami anticipates the departure of several new ships, including Royal Caribbean Group’s Icon of the Seas, which claims the title of the world's largest cruise ship.
