A P&O Cruises charter flight, transporting passengers from Barbados to Manchester, was compelled to divert to Bermuda on Christmas Eve due to sudden and intense turbulence, resulting in injuries to 11 passengers. Operated by Malta's Maleth Aero, the flight was arranged to bring numerous P&O UK passengers home for the holidays.

Unfortunately, the incident extended their stay in Bermuda through Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and much of Boxing Day.

The aircraft, carrying 225 passengers and 13 crew members from the P&O's ship Arvia, witnessed no injuries among the crew. A replacement aircraft arrived in the UK during the early hours of Wednesday morning, December 27.

A spokesperson for P&O Cruises expressed regret over the disruption caused by unexpected turbulence during the flight from Barbados to Manchester. Despite exploring all available flying options, passengers were accommodated in hotels, with plans for a Boxing Day flight to complete their journey.

The spokesperson conveyed sincere apologies for the inconvenience, assuring passengers that efforts are underway, in collaboration with the airline and hotels, to facilitate their prompt return home after the holiday.
