On January 12, 2024, the initiation of the 3rd ICON vessel marked the commencement of production at Meyer Turku (shipyard in Turku Finland).

Representatives from RCG-Royal Caribbean Group, the ship's customer, and Meyer Turku participated in the celebratory event.

The traditional steel-cutting ceremony (hull 1402) initiates a construction and equipment phase spanning over two years, engaging thousands of professionals from diverse fields. Upon completion, the ship, boasting a gross tonnage of 250,800, will assume a pivotal role in the Royal Caribbean Group's fleet as part of the innovative Icon class, offering entirely new vacation experiences.

"With Icon III, we are further strengthening our position as the builder of the world's most advanced cruise ships. The long-term goals of Meyer Turku and the Royal Caribbean Group are becoming concrete, and we are able to set new standards to strengthen our leadership in the green transition of the maritime industry," states Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku.

The unveiling of the ship's name is scheduled for a later date.

The planned completion date for Icon III is set for 2026.
