Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel division of the MSC Group, has confirmed its onboard programme for EXPLORA II during the 2025 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAND PRIX DE MONACO. The vessel, scheduled to be the only cruise ship berthed at Port Hercule during the event, will function as a maritime base for a series of bespoke activities aligning with the Formula 1 calendar.
Positioned alongside the circuit in Monaco’s harbour, EXPLORA II will provide guests with direct access to the race environment. The vessel’s design—a private-yacht-inspired platform—will support both panoramic views of the circuit and a curated series of programming developed specifically for the Grand Prix.
During the event weekend, the ship will host several former Formula 1 drivers, including David Coulthard, Sir Jackie Stewart, and Mika Häkkinen. These individuals are expected to participate in moderated discussions, offering historical perspectives and personal commentary on the sport. Additional insights will be provided by representatives of the BWT Alpine Formula One™ Team, contributing analysis on the current and future landscape of Formula 1.
Supplementing these engagements, Explora Journeys has arranged a schedule of race-themed onboard activities. These include simulator experiences with both virtual reality and standard interfaces, allowing participants to engage in timed challenges tracked via an onboard leaderboard. Other features include themed quizzes, entertainment zones, and a decorative miniature race track intended to capture the spirit of the weekend.
In support of the luxury positioning of the voyage, the ship will feature an extended schedule of onboard retail presentations. From 14 to 30 May, passengers will have access to private exhibitions by Buccellati, Panerai, and Piaget. Items on display will include rare jewellery pieces, haute horlogerie complications, and interactive showcases. Panerai, for instance, will conduct technical sessions where guests can observe—and participate in—the disassembly and reassembly of a timepiece movement.
Between scheduled events, guests will have access to the ship’s wellness programme, designed to offset the intensity of the race environment. The Ocean Wellness concept includes massage therapies, aromatherapy treatments, and structured mindfulness activities. Fitness and performance optimisation sessions, supported by Technogym, will also be available.
Culinary offerings during the voyage will include tasting menus and curated events that emphasise regional and sensory exploration. These gastronomic elements are intended to complement the event’s luxury atmosphere and promote social interaction among guests.
Evenings on EXPLORA II will feature formal receptions and themed gatherings. These events, including champagne services at sunset and curated celebrations across the ship’s lounges and bars, aim to reinforce the vessel’s role as the social focal point of the Monaco race weekend. Menus, cocktails, and interior design elements will be adjusted to reflect the aesthetic of the Grand Prix setting.
With its location at Port Hercule, the hosting of high-profile guests, and a structured programme designed to align with the cultural expectations of the event, EXPLORA II will provide an integrated maritime experience during the 2025 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAND PRIX DE MONACO. Explora Journeys intends the vessel’s presence to set a new benchmark for combining cruise hospitality with global sporting occasions.
