The formal inauguration of the Mindelo Cruise Port on São Vicente Island was marked on June 21 by a ceremony attended by Cape Verdean Prime Minister Dr. Ulisses Correia e Silva and several international dignitaries, including the Dutch Ambassador and representatives of the European Union. The event symbolized a significant development in the nation's maritime and tourism sectors.
The newly operational facility is equipped to accommodate large cruise vessels and includes modern infrastructure with advanced safety, accessibility, and passenger service features. ENAPOR, Cape Verde’s national port authority, emphasized the terminal’s technical standards and operational readiness to meet international expectations. The port is expected to offer a positive experience for passengers and cruise operators while supporting regional economic growth.
In January, ENAPOR entered into a partnership with Global Ports Holding to manage the terminal’s operations. The collaboration aims to elevate service quality and position Cape Verde competitively in the global cruise industry.
Portos de Cabo Verde reiterated its commitment to the continued modernization of the national port network and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the completion and launch of the Mindelo Cruise Port. The port is projected to be a catalyst for increased tourism, local commerce, and employment across the islands.
