Launch of Viking Tonle expands Mekong fleet

Viking has taken delivery of Viking Tonle, the latest river vessel in its fleet, which will operate exclusively on Southeast Asia’s Mekong River. The ship has been built for the 15-day Magnificent Mekong itinerary.

The Tonle joins her sister ship Viking Saigon. Each accommodates eighty guests in forty outside staterooms. The design follows Viking’s Scandinavian aesthetic, with public areas designed to admit natural light and staterooms fitted with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors opening to verandas or French balconies.

Over three decks, the ship includes leisure facilities such as a pool, spa, and fitness centre, together with an open-air Sky Bar on the upper deck.

The voyage schedule for Viking Tonle will commence on September 29th, 2025. Her entry into service effectively doubles Viking’s capacity on the Mekong River.

As part of its long-term expansion plans, Viking expects to take delivery of 25 additional river ships by 2028, and ten more ocean vessels by 2031. With these deliveries, its fleet will grow to 112 river ships by 2028, and 23 ocean and expedition ships by 2031.
