On September 24th, 2025, Marine Rescue Queensland’s Bribie Island unit executed a medical evacuation from the cruise ship Carnival Adventure, which lay at anchor off Tangalooma in Moreton Bay.

The operation involved three injured individuals—two passengers and one crew member. One passenger required stretcher handling, another was confined to a wheelchair, while the crew member had sustained injuries necessitating care ashore. Two family members accompanied the passengers during the transfer to offer support.

The alert had come in at 11:36 a.m., when Bribie Island Radio Operator Denny Freeman accepted a request from the Queensland Ambulance Service to carry two ambulance officers out to the vessel and bring multiple patients to the mainland. Bribie 1 departed under calm seas, manned by Commercial Coxswain Ian Grimes, Restricted Coxswain Stephen Parry, Crew Day Coxswain Lindsay Crompton, Competent Crew David Logie, and the two ambulance officers.

Upon reaching Carnival Adventure—a ship of 108,865 gross tons with capacity for 2,636 passengers and 1,100 crew—the ambulance officers boarded to assess and triage. They then embarked two passengers (one in a wheelchair and one on a stretcher), the injured crew member, their two accompanying family members, and luggage, transferring all to Bribie 1.

The rescue vessel reached MRQ Bribie headquarters at 2:34 p.m., where two awaiting ambulances stood ready to carry the patients to medical facilities. After disembarkation, the MRQ crew refuelled, restowed gear, cleansed the vessel, and stood down at about 3:45 p.m.

At the time of the incident, the ship was on a 4-day Tangalooma - Moreton Island cruise, round-trip from Sydney.
