Lindblad expands river cruises in 2027–2028

Lindblad Expeditions has announced a substantially expanded river-cruise catalogue for the 2027–2028 season, spanning major waterways in Europe, Egypt, India and Vietnam.

This is Lindblad's most extensive river portfolio to date.

In Europe, the boat Transcend Connect will continue its spring and summer routes through Amsterdam’s canals and the French countryside. The sistership Transcend Evolve will join the fleet in 2027 and introduce winter sailings—including Christmas market voyages—for the first time, extending river cruising beyond the traditional season.

Linblad also charters ships deployed in India (Charaidew II, on Brahmaputra), Vietnam (The Jahan, on Mekong), and in Egypt (Oberoi Philae, on Nile).

CEO Natalya Leahy stated that the line’s river voyages are designed to be “unhurried, intimate and deeply connected to place,” emphasising that how a guest sees the world is as important as where they travel.

Lindblad indicated that each river itinerary will include veteran expedition leaders, regional field staff and naturalists, ensuring a high ratio of expertise and guiding—a hallmark of the brand’s expedition approach applied to river cruising.

By expanding capacity, diversifying seasonal options, and deepening the engagement with destination culture and heritage, Lindblad’s strategy moves river cruising beyond standard sight-seeing into a model of immersive travel that leverages smaller ships and specialist operators to access less-visited waterways and communities.

The 2027–2028 river schedule represents a significant evolution for Lindblad, reinforcing its commitment to experiential travel while contributing to tourism development in each of the regions served.
