Outlook for cruise traffic at the Ports of Stockholm in 2026

   December 3, 2025 ,   Cruise Industry

The Ports of Stockholm (Sweden) anticipate a strong cruise season in 2026, with 157 scheduled vessel calls expected to bring more than 300,000 passengers to the region. Cruise traffic now spans the entire year, and the German market continues to represent the largest share of visitors. The newly published call list for 2026 indicates sustained, positive momentum for cruise operations across the ports.

Seven vessels are scheduled to make their inaugural visits during the season, and a new cruise brand will enter the market. Twenty-one calls are planned for the Port of Nynäshamn, marking the highest number recorded there in several years. Overall activity is forecast to exceed both 2025 and 2024 levels.

AIDA Cruises will remain the most frequent caller, with 32 planned visits. Roughly one-third of all passengers will sail with cruise operators focused primarily on the German market.

A notable newcomer next season will be Explora Journeys, MSC Group’s luxury brand. The company is slated to call at Stockholm for the first time with Explora III on 28–29 August.

Ports of Stockholm representatives noted that demand in the Baltic Sea region is strengthening, with vessel numbers continuing to rise and occupancy rates remaining high, contributing to a significant increase in passenger volumes.
