Carnival Cruise Line/CCL has introduced a new visual identity and expanded recreational facilities at its private destination of Isla Tropicale in Roatán, Honduras, with the debut of the Mangrove Bay pool complex.

The development adds ~48,000 ft2 (~4460 m2) of new guest space, centred around a large pool area featuring a swim-up bar, adjacent beverage service and a dedicated splash zone for children. The pool incorporates a central peninsula lined with cabanas, loungers and daybeds intended to provide additional premium outdoor accommodation for guests ashore.

The project forms part of CCL's broader Paradise Collection programme and represents the latest phase in the redevelopment of the destination formerly known as Mahogany Bay. CCL's president, Christine Duffy, stated that the new facilities were intended to further enhance the guest experience while continuing the company’s long-standing partnership with Roatán and Honduras, as well as its economic contribution to the region.

Isla Tropicale currently accommodates CCL's Excel- and Vista-class ships across two berths and includes 52 retail outlets, local artisan kiosks, restaurants, bars, ocean-view cabanas and a chairlift overlooking the harbour area.

Since opening in 2009, the destination has welcomed ~9 million cruise ship tourists and generated an estimated USD 750 million in economic impact, supporting more than 1,300 local jobs.

The destination’s beach area also received Honduras’ Blue Flag Award and a five-star environmental rating in both 2024 and 2025, recognising standards related to sustainability, water quality, accessibility and safety. Honduran tourism officials indicated that the continued investment reflected the importance of cruise tourism to both Roatán and the wider national economy.
