Crystal Cruises has introduced a dedicated recreation area for crew members aboard Crystal Grace, the company’s first newbuild in 25 years, ahead of the vessel’s scheduled debut in June 2028. The facility was unveiled on May 22nd, 2026 in conjunction with National Maritime Day and forms part of a broader effort to enhance onboard living conditions for shipboard personnel.
Located on Deck 12, the crew-only recreation area spans approximately 1,582 square feet and is designed to accommodate up to 100 crew members. The space includes a lounge, bar, convenience store, sun loungers, jacuzzi and shower area, together with a 24-hour fitness centre equipped with Technogym equipment. Indoor social areas provide seating for 74 people, while two additional crew dining venues are being incorporated on Deck 3.
Crystal’s management stated that the project was conceived as a practical and dedicated environment intended to support rest, social connection and wellbeing among crew members, while also reflecting the company’s recognition of the role played by onboard staff in delivering the guest experience. Fleet Human Resources Director Othmar Hehli indicated that the objective had been to create a functional and welcoming space designed specifically for crew use. Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group Chief Executive Cristina Levis added that the area had been developed to provide crew with a place to relax and recover following daily operations aboard the vessel.
Crystal Grace, owned by Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group, is scheduled for delivery in May 2028 and will accommodate up to 650 guests. The vessel will introduce Crystal’s first Owner’s Suite and continue the line’s emphasis on high crew-to-guest ratios and all-suite accommodations. Dining venues are expected to include Beefbar, the Japanese-Peruvian restaurant Umi Uma and Osteria d’Ovidio.
The ship’s inaugural Mediterranean season will include itineraries through Italy, Greece, Croatia and Montenegro before repositioning to North America in autumn 2028 for voyages in New England and Eastern Canada, including calls at Québec City and Charlottetown. Reservations for the inaugural programme opened earlier in 2026.
