Celebrity Cruises Passengers Hit With Norovirus

Passengers onboard a Celebrity Cruises ship which left Sydney on Sunday, October 30, have been hit with an outbreak of gastro.

Celebrity Solstice, carrying nearly 3000 passengers, confirmed multiple cases of gastrointestinal illnesses.

Celebrity Cruises said in a statement that the ship was on a 12-night New Zealand cruise. According to the cruise line, "there have been 18 reported cases of gastro-intestinal illness symptoms, which represents 0.6 per cent of the 2,759 guests onboard, plus 1,256 crew."

The affected by the illness are currently being treated by ship’s doctors.

Celebrity Solstice departs Melbourne as scheduled at 5:00 p.m. today.
