Celebrity Cruises Ship Hit by Norovirus

A Celebrity Cruises ship plagued with norovirus berthed in Port of Tauranga yesterday, November 9.

Celebrity Solstice arrived at 7:15 a.m. as part of a 12-night voyage from Sydney to Auckland via South Island.

Of the 3985 passengers and crew, 213 have been struck with vomiting and diarrhoea bug.

No new passengers were boarding at Tauranga and Celebrity Solstice continues sailing as scheduled, departing at 6:00 p.m.

Passengers on the current cruise will disembark in Auckland on Saturday, November 11.

In a statement, Celebrity Cruises announced people affected by the norovirus were being treated by ship's doctors and responding well.
